Problems installing Powershell Hyper V Module

Jun 10, 2011 at 9:10 PM

It seems i am a hard time getting out of the gate so to speak. I am new to Powershell but i've dealt with VBscript for awhile. Who said Powershell is easier??

When i hit the install bat this is what i get on Win Server 2008 x64.

Feature name NetFx2-Servercore is unknown

Feature name MicrosoftWindowsPowerShell is unknown.

Then PS come up and states "there were errors in loading the format data file" <path> hyperv.format.ps1xml is not digitally signed....

Can anyone steer me in the right direction. My goal is to write a scipt to make auto snapshots of VM's

1. Download R2 Gold from

2. Before doing anything else; Right click on zip file and UNBLOCK

3. Install HyperV module

3. Bring up Powershell "Set-ExecutionPolicy RemoteSigned"

4. Create Powershell profile on machine

a. $profile (Will tell you path of default profile)

b. Test-Path $profile (Will tell you if there is a profile)

c. If no profile ceate one : New-Item -path $profile -type file -force

5.Open profile: notepad $profile

6.Type this: Import-Module 'C:\Program Files\modules\Hyperv'

You can also set Powershell start up path in the profile

"Set-Location C:\Scripts"

7.Create Powershell Script for VM Snapshot

8.Run script with local administrator rights (In our case)

9.Make sure Task Scheduler kills task after 30 min running
